Once subscribed you agree as a participant to these rules
Het Kampioenschap van Brussel is open for every genre: rock, pop, techno, rai, hip hop, hardcore, folk, to name but a few…
Het Kampioenschap van Brussel is a project by JES vzw, more specific ‘De Rockfabriek’, it’s a collaboration with the youth houses of Brussels. These partners are called ‘ organisation’ in this text. The participating bands are called ‘participants’. Each band points out a responsible to communicate with during the contest.
The organisation can change these rules for a better run of the contest. The participants will be notified of every change made in these rules.
The participating band has to comply to the following terms:
Half of the band has to live in the Brussels capital region. Bands that can participate because they don’t comply to this term, can participate to one of the other 5 contest taking place at the same time (more info: www.100procentpuur.be):
Rockvonk (Vlaams Brabant)
Frappant (Antwerpen)
Westtalent (W Vlaanderen)
Limbomania (Limburg)
Oost Vlaams Rockconcours (O Vlaanderen)
In the very rare situation of a band with 50% of the members living in Brussels as in an other province as well, we’ll contact you to see what we can arrange.
The band ‘has no record out‘. By this we mean that bands with a record contract (label…) can ‘t subscribe to Het Kampioenschap van Brussel.
Bands which were finalists in the previous editions of Het Kampioenschap van Brussel can’t participate to this edition (or to the other 5 contests)
The subscription time is from the 1st of april till the 1st of September. At last of this date we need all information about your subscription. Subscribing for Het Kampioenschap van Brussel will be done through vi.be (in dutch!!! Subscription can also be done through the old school way, snailmail and demo’s, send them to Het Kampioenschap van Brussel, Werkhuizenstraat 3, 1080 Brussels). When we received your subscription we send you a confirmation mail.
At least 3 songs must be available on your website, maximum 1 cover.
All information of every participant van be used by JES/ De Rockfabriek. Without explicit permission of the participants this information won’t be passed to third parties. The only exception is Poppunt, nationwide coordinator of the 100% Puur project. This organisation can use all given information for promotional matters.
Selection/Jury
The jury(‘s) are composed by the organisation but work completely autonomous. We have a demo jury, a preliminary jury and a finale jury. Only a few members are sitting in all 3 juries. There is no communication between jury and participants.
The demo jury chooses 36 bands that will perform on 1 of the 6 preliminaries. Which bands on which preliminary date will be determined in the first week of September. The running order each night will be determined the night of the preliminary itself (by the organisation)
The preliminary jury checks all concerts en chooses after the 6 preliminaries the 8 finalists. This means that there’s no winner each preliminary, our jury just chooses the 8 best bands.
An half an hour after the last band on the finale our finale jury announces the winners (1, 2 and 3)
Concerts
During the concerts only one cover is allowed. During the preliminaries the concerts endure 20 minutes. The concert on the finale is only 15 minutes. The participant exempts the organisation of all SABAM-charges.
All audiovisual recordings made by the organisation during preliminaries and the finale can be used by the organisation for promotional purposes.
Every band plays with the same PA-system. Our PA-system is managed by our team of professionals. For all technical details we contact every participant personally (if there would be a problem…). It’s not allowed to use your own sound-engineer!!! This because we don’t want to disadvantage bands that doesn’t work with a (fix) sound-engineer.
The organisation foresees a limited backline (more information about this backline soon). All stage-management for the preliminaries is managed by De Rockfabriek. During the finale this stage-management is in the hands of the AB.
All announced prices (see for FAQ) are under reservation. Every participant who reaches the finale will participate to the 100% Puur project coordinated by Poppunt.
100% PUUR – what after Het Kampioenschap van Brussel
All finalists of Het kampioenschap van Brussel are automatically inserted
in the 100% Puur project. This is an initiative of the 5 Flemish provinces
and the Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie (Brussels), under supervision of
Poppunt.
100% Puur is a project that starts after Het Kampioenschap van Brussel,
actually it’s a project that helps all finalists of all 6 contests to
book gigs during a 2 year route. The purpose of this project is that all
finalist got maximum playing opportunities and mainly in other provinces
than it’s own. Concerts can be planned in clubs, festivals, youth houses,
cultural centres…
Poppunt maintains good relationships with youth houses, pubs, clubs and
festivals, but won’t take the roll of programmer itself. Poppunt can’t
guarantee gigs for all bands, bands still has to do promotion them selfs.
Poppunt takes care of all administration, coordination and nationwide
publicity.
